Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Cupertino, CA, Symantec Corporation (NASDAQ: SYMC) provides software to consumers and businesses for content and network security. The company develops solutions for virus protection, intrusion detection, anti-spam, data protection and management, and remote management. It owns the successful Norton line of computer protection and optimization applications. The company has 2005 revenue of about $4.14 billion and employs about 16,000 people. It recently acquired Veritas, Relacore and Imlogic.
